The Centre portfolio of courses covers the broad classification of Respiratry health and patient assessment and behaviour change.

With the onset of Covid, a review has been undertaken of what courses can be presented on an online or self directed basis, and those, that due to their handson component, are being postponed until delegates can once again attend the Alfred.

Course PreRequisites

Our courses are presented by recognised experts, specialists, scientists and active practioners.

Course material and presentations assume an appropriate Medical, Nursing or Allied Health Education and/or career experience.

Attendees are requested to provided registration and/or experience bonifides.

A Practical management approach of non invasive ventilation & sleep disorders

This unique course, over two days, for health professionals wishing to gain increased knowledge and practical skills in the support of patients with a range of Sleep Disorders and those requiring Non Invasive Ventilation; Bi-Level and CPAP from the Intensive Care Unit to the community carer.

The centre runs professional development and networking days throughout the year for previous course attendees or those whom have attended equivelant courses from peer providers. Session content varies - based on changes to best practice, evidence or techniques, and/or topics of interest.

Paediatric respiratory

Respiratory disorders are common in children and have potentially serious consequences.  The rates of hospital admissions and GP visits for respiratory conditions are certainly higher in children.  Health professionals in every area of practice need an understanding of paediatric respiratory assessment and the management of children with respiratory disorders.

Presented by experts from the Royal Childrens Hospital and The Alfred, this one day seminar for health professionals wanting to refresh their knowledge in childhood respiratory illness.

Spirometry Follow-up

A one day Spirometry refresher seminar, tailored to participants and featuring small group learning. Ideal for those who have completed the two day LHPC Spirometry Principles & Practice Course, or equivalent

The TSANZ recommends follow up training should occur within 12 months of the initial course and then every 3 years after that. Topics include a review of test performance, criteria and quality assurance, and interpretation of results.
